Designing a Photobook using Album DS
You can create each page as a separate file using Album DS, and convert them to a single PDF file when all your layouts are complete.
Read these instructions carefully before starting your book design using Indesign. We recommend that you print this page for reference.
Important notes:
- This software is suitable for advanced Photoshop CS users with a reasonably high spec computer
- The templates provided in Album DS should be used as a starting point. Your images may need to be adjusted to suit the Momento guide-lines
- Because of the way Album DS works, you should create your cover designs in a separate Photoshop document
- We recommend that you view the tutorial videos on the Album DS website
Before starting:
-
Download and install the latest Albums DS software from www.albumds.com
- Momento page specifications are now included in the Installed version of Album DS
- Ensure that you select the units as cm each time you start Album DS (not Inches)
-
Go to Preferences in the Album menu and select Adobe RGB in Colour Settings.
This will export your files in Adobe RGB but will only work correctly if have embedded colour profiles in your image files
Designing your pages:
- When you start a new project in Album DS, 1st select Momento Pro Australia in the Company list, then select the shape and size of the project
-

- Never change the values when starting a new pages
- Pages are designed as spreads
- Make sure you leave the left half of page 1 blank
- Saving as a single PDF
- You need to run Split all pages in the Album menu before converting to PDF
- Photoshop automate
Designing your covers:
Album DS has no built-in cover design tools so the best solution is to use our Photoshop cover templates.
Check your export
When viewing the exported file in Acrobat (Pro or Reader), the colours should look correct. If an image's colour doesn't look correct, then go back to the relevant page and ensure that the colour profile is correctly set as Adobe RGB.
